The gaming community's prediction in relation to the next Call of Duty installment were confirmed yesterday when Activision officially announced Call of Duty: WWII. A countdown was also put up on the game's official web page for its big reveal on April 26. Amazon UK has also updated the game's listing for each system which also revealed that the PS4 will be receiving map packs 30 days earlier than the Xbox One and PC versions.
The hyped rumor about WWII started in February when the company stated that they "will take Call of Duty Back to its Roots
" This may be due to the fact that the versions of the game that involves raw combat (COD MW3, BO, BOII) paired with a strong plot dominate the top spot of the franchise's sales chart. There were also a couple of concept art and poster
that were leaked in social media.
The title's latest installment Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has both combat and story, however, the game was set in an unfamiliar terrain and was too far out in the future. This could be the reason why the game's trailer got an epic 3,816,081 dislikes to date. The company's decision to get in touch with the game's roots together with the engine and innovations of the franchise's latest installment is going to be a great turning point for the Call of Duty brand. Check out the box-art of the game below and stay tuned for more gaming updates.
