Nintendo Switch Gets Its First Media App, And It
Nintendo Switch will be getting its very first media app but it will only be available in Japan. The console's very first app that has the capability to launch and watch videos will be under the NicoNico brand. NicoNico is a video hosting service in Japan similar to YouTube, the service was launched in 2006 and has become a household name in Japan.
As amazing as the Switch was, it currently doesn't have a media app or a web browser for viewing shared video contents online which was a bit off to some customers. The announcement of the NicoNico App is a clear indication that other media apps or perhaps a web browser may follow soon. It has been confirmed a couple of months ago that the company has already reached out to various video hosting companies.
"We’re talking to a range of companies about other services, companies like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon — things that will come in time. In our view, these are not differentiators."  Nintendo's COO Reggie Fils-Aime in an interview with The Washington Post
So expect that more great things will be coming to the Switch. Check out the trailer below for more information and stay tuned for more gaming news and updates.
