What Critics Are Saying About Splatoon 2
Nintendo's third-person 4 player PVP third person shooter Splatoon 2 launched just a couple of days ago. The game is currently ranked number 2 in the UK sales chart and has an average Metascore of 84 from 63 critics. Let's take a quick look at what some of the gaming industry's critics have to say about Nintendo's ink splatting game.
"At first glance, Splatoon 2 seems very similar to the first game. But all the small changes, and even the bigger ones in single player and League Battles, make for a fresh take on the already unique shooter. If you played a lot of the original, the sequel has enough to keep you coming back, and if you're new to the game, it's a fantastic place to jump in." -Gamespot review score (8/10) Splatoon score (8/10)
Splatoon 2 is a sequel to the 2015 game for the Wii-U of the same title. The first installment scored an average of 81 from 88 critics. The recently released game, however, doesn't have that much difference from the first installment which means that new players who are getting into the action for the first time will have no problem adapting to the new game.
"It’s baffling that Splatoon 2’s best feature is held back by a frustrating lack of proper online support, and in many ways, it’s the same game with some new tricks. But there are still enough imaginative additions for anyone who played the first game to death, especially via its strange, captivating supporting cast. It may be much more of the same, but the same is still pretty fresh." - Polygon Splatoon 2 review score (8/10) Splatoon review score (8.5/10)
Splatoon 2's new features include a better graphical presentation with more vivid colors than the original, new weapons, a new mode called Salmon Run (enemy-wave based co-op), motion controls for the Joy-con, and Turf War. The game will also a have an upcoming smart device support according to its description on the Nintendo website. Splatoon 2 is currently priced at $59.99.
