Daigo "The Beast" Umehara grabs his second victory last weekend in Cologne, Germany after dominating the SFV ranking tournament by Hadoken.EU held last weekend in Cologne, Germany. Daigo faced Panda's Jiewa who fought his way back from the losers finals after having been defeated by the Beast himself. Daigo won the first round which made Jiewa switch from Ken to Akuma, But it seems "The Beast" is still hyped up with his first victory CPT victory from Abuget Cup 2017
in Jakarta, Indonesia last July 30, 2017, which could be one of the reasons for his recent victory.
The Beast recently switched mains from Ryu to Guile after the SFV Season 2 balance changes
went live which came as a surprise to the FGC given that Ryu has been attached to "The Beast" for such a long time that it has become a part of his FGC identity. The Beast during an interview with PVP Live explains that the change in main needs to be done if he was to play at a competitive level due to the Season 2 balance changes.
"SFV is a completely new game in terms of its game mechanics. The update cycle is also fast, and I have come to accept that there is little merit in sticking to one single character. Just as the world we live in now moves fast and the workforce is required to adapt to changes, I too need to be able to adapt to the changes of the game." - Daigo "The Beast" Umehara telling PVP Live the reason why he changed from Ryu to Guile.
It seems that changing to Guile really was necessary and was a very wise decision indeed as the results are slowly piling up. check out the grand finals match below and stay tuned for more gaming news and updates.
