Mario Kart 8 Deluxe takes the spotlight by being the first Nintendo game to dominate the top spot of UK's sales chart seven years after Pokemon White for the DS dominated the chart in 2011. Even the Switch's launch title The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild only made it to number 2 when it came out before plunging down to number 4 the week after.
The UK market was not the only one who experienced this sales rate, in fact, Nintendo of America recently confirmed that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is now the
"fastest selling in the franchise's history," as per GamesIndustryBiz
selling more than 459,000 copies sold breaking the 433,900 sales record of Mario Kart Wii almost 9 years ago.
Mario Kart 8 was already the top-selling software for the Wii-U and the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is just a re-release for the Switch, nevertheless, Nintendo took the opportunity to improve the Switch version by restoring the game's battle mode feature, with extensive multiplayer, and improved acceleration making Mario Kart 8 Deluxe the perfect version of Mario Kart 8.
