Final Fantasy XII was developed by some of the greatest innovators in RPG, headed by two of the most influential figures who was part of almost every Final Fantasy game ever created including some of the most successful RPG's under Squaresoft (now Square Enix).  Hiroyuki Ito and Hiroshi Minagawa scrubbed the Active Time Battle system and introduced the Active Dimension Battle system (ADB) wherein encounters are triggered once the character is in range of the enemy which are visible in the open world giving him the freedom to either engage or avoid an encounter.

Capture of the Zodiac System

The Gambit system was also one of the game's highlights, this system allows the player to program the abilities of each character which will be triggered by a certain situation, for example, the player can program the character to cast heal to any members of the party who's health drops below 40 or 30%. An improved version of the Gambit system which was released in Japan called the Zodiac system is the main battle system utilized in the remastered version. The Zodiac system features 12 unique roles that the player can customize giving him full control of the development of his characters.

Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age is scheduled to launch on July 11, 2017.
