After a long week of speculations due to several leaks, Assassin's Creed Origins was finally announced and is scheduled to launch on October 27. The gameplay trailer did not only showed the new features of the new installment but it gave its audience a glance of its vast environment which is highly detailed.
Assassin's Creed Origins as the name implies follows the exploits of Bayek who's the last of the Medjay(a Nubian order of Warriors serving the Emperor). The Medjays in Bayek's time is a dying breed as Egypt during this time is no longer ruled by Pharaohs and is now a province of Rome.
“We have the capacity, from a technological standpoint, to create a massive countryside, It’s not a city, it’s a whole country with many cities, many villages, many exotic landscapes.” - Ashraf Ismail Assassin's Creed Origins Director
There is a total of four locations which are featured in the upcoming game (see the gallery below for the images), Faiyum (The Disputed Land), Giza And Memphis (Home to the Great Pyramids), Siwa (The Barren Sands), and Nile Delta (Land of Plenty and Danger). These four areas will likely become the main stage of the upcoming game's main quests.
The development team has made some major changes to the to the game's main features as well, one of these is the removal of the mini-map which will make the game more challenging. The weapons system was also tweaked. Weapons in Assassin's Creed origins are classified into the following classes; Heavy, Swords, Long, Bows, and Shields. Each weapon comes in three levels of rarity (common, rare, legend) which are scattered all over the map and can be obtained through explorations or missions.
The combat including the button controls was also changed in a way that the player must study each weapon in order exploit its full potential. For those traditional players who are more comfortable with the old controller and combat scheme, an option will become available in the options menu.
Assassin's Creed Origins
can be considered as a reset of the highly saturated franchise. It's good to know that the game will now take a new direction that will bring back some of its lost audience. Check out the trailer and the gallery below and stay tuned for more gaming news and updates.
