The Ataribox, Atari
Atari is making a comeback into the console market with the teaser of its new product called the Ataribox. Little information was disclosed about the product but its one of the big surprises of the year knowing that the company that helped revolutionize the video game industry is back in the game.
Sometime in 1972, two of the most iconic names in video game history Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney created a company that will define the video game industry forever, that company was called Atari. Atari became a pioneer not only in consoles but also in arcade games and home computers as well.

The Atari brand has been associated with both the best and the worst in gaming. One of its most popular hardware was the Atari VCS (Video Computer System) which later became the Atari 2600 released in 1977. The company also produced one of the very first sport-based arcade game called Pong which was originally built as a training exercise which was released in 1972.

Fast forward to 1982, up to this time, everything was going well for Atari and their 2600 console up until December of the same year when the video game version of the movie E.T.  The Extra-Terrestrial was launched, the game received a lot of negative reviews and criticisms that it was labeled as "the Worst Video game of all time."
Over the years the Atari brand has been with a lot of parent company, the last console developed by the label was the Atari Jaguar which was manufactured by IBM, the console was launched in 1993 and was discontinued in 1996 with 250,000 units sold.
The upcoming Atari console is quite interesting since they will be in a head to head clash with three of the biggest next-gen consoles in the market today. On the bright side, a worthy competitor is more than welcome in the console market in order to somehow level out the price of the current console price.
