Microsoft's Xbox One X is currently the most powerful console on the planet, compared to Sony's PlayStation 4 Pro, the Xbox One X features more CPU power, more teraflops, more memory, and a 4K capable Blu-ray drive. Yet, Sony is pretty calm and is not threatened by the console's launch, in fact, Sony even sent a congratulatory Tweet to Xbox during the X's launch.
"What we’re hearing from developers is that most people expect Sony’s next console to be a PlayStation 5, a machine that runs games that won’t run on PS4," Kotaku
Rumors have been popping up in forums like Resetera which was pointed out by a recent Kotaku article. The article focused on the recent PS4 rumors, however, it also states that two personalities spoke to the author about the possible launch date, another is the thread in Resetera which points to a publisher called Semiaccurate who did an article about the upcoming console's specs who also states that those who are planning to get an Xbox One X may have to wait for Sony's new console which was described as a "Beast."
"Word from a few people was that in meetings between Sony and developers, representatives for the publisher had dropped vague hints about that 2020 timeframe." Kotaku
Sony's PlayStation 4 has been a great success in terms of sales and performance and has singlehandedly won the so-called console wars against Microsoft's Xbox One. The console will be celebrating its 5th year anniversary in November, and it has been a trend for Sony to launch a new console after six years or so (PlayStation on 1994, PlayStation 2 in 2000, PlayStation 3 in 2006, PlayStation 4 2013). Till then, its great to know that Sony is working on a new console even though the company remains quiet about the project. Stay tuned for more gaming news and updates.
