Included in the presentation is the total shipments for the PlayStation 4 which is currently at the 79 million mark, as per Gematsu who first got hold of the information. Sony was able to ship out a total of 19 million PlayStation 4s which is said to have been a million less compared to FY2016, due to the hardware's decreasing sales, the company is planning to ship 16 million units during the current year which if fulfilled will make a total of 95 million PS4s shipped come March 31, 2019. Meanwhile, a total of 249.9 million PlayStation 4 Software units were sold in FY2017 which is up by 29 million compared to FY2016.
Sony is expecting an upward trend in its software sales in the current Fiscal Year and is expecting a decline in Hardware sales, this trend could possibly mean that the rumored development of the next PlayStation console may actually be true. According to the rumor, the next console is expected to arrive in 2020, just in time for Sony to launch all their announced exclusive titles for the PS4 as the rumor also states the upcoming console won't run the PS4 software. A big reveal could probably happen next year but that's just our own simple prediction. Stay tuned for more gaming news and updates.
