Capcom has finally unveiled the very first gameplay footage including the official launch date of the Resident Evil 2 remake during Sony's E3 2018 Showcase. Though this was already expected by some due to the recent update of the game's website, today's announcement is still one of the best surprises during the event. Resident Evil 2 is a remake with added bonuses, those who have yet to experience the original game may actually see this as an entirely new entry to the franchise. For veterans who managed to know every nook and cranny of the RPD, the development team has made sure that this is going to be an entirely new experience by adding new areas to explore and puzzles to solve.
"If you know the classic Raccoon City Police Department like the back of your hand, some parts of the station might look familiar, but don’t let the similarities fool you." - Kellen Haney Capcom USA
It may be safe to say that some of the new features of Resident Evil 2 were inspired by other titles in the franchise one of which is the over-the-shoulder camera in Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 7's RE Engine now under its hood. A playable demo of the game is also available for those lucky enough to attend this year's E3 and is scheduled to launch on January 25, 2019.
