Avalanche and Square Enix announced the next entry to the Just Cause series. The upcoming installment will run on a new and improved APEX Engine (Avalanche Open-World Engine), new country, multiple biomes, new weapon mechanics, new vehicles, a customizable grapple, extreme weather, new types of enemies with new abilities, and much more.
Just Cause 4 is set in a fictional South American country called Solís, a 1024 square kilometers area made up of various biomes ranging from rainforests, deserts, to snowy mountain peaks. Solís is also the birthplace of Rico's main nemesis called the Blackhand described as the world's most powerful elite mercenary army led by Gabriela Morales.
To combat this threat, Rico's arsenal and vehicles have been expanded and enhanced. Most of the weapons in the game now has an alternate fire mode, and his signature grappling hook is now customizable and major improvements were also made to the wingsuit. To assist the protagonist in his new quest, a new character is also introduced in the game.
The new world of Just Cause 4 is going to be as hostile and will be more destructible than ever with the introduction of the Extreme weather feature. This new addition to the game will spawn unpredictable tornadoes, sandstorms, blizzards, and lightning storms which the protagonist can use to his advantage. Just Cause 4 is scheduled to launch on December 4, 2018, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
