PUBG Copies Battle Pass Of Fortnite, After Taking Epic Games To Court

A battle within the Battle Royale genre continues to escalate between two of the most popular titles in the genre Playerunknown's Battlegrounds and Fortnite. Earlier this year, PUBG developer Bluehole sues Fortnite developer Epic Games to the Korean court to protect PUBGs copyright which is said to have been allegedly infringed by Fortnight. With the issue now in court, Bluehole now makes another drastic move by introducing the Event Pass, a $10 pass that allows players to unlock cosmetics by completing various challenges.

PUBG's community is not happy with the announcement, this is due to the fact that Fortnite's $10 Battle Pass lasts for 10 weeks with 100 unlockable tiers while PUBG's Event Pass lasts for 30 days with 30 tiers with some items permanent and some limited to 30 days. Not only that, Fortnite is a free to play the game while PUBG has a price tag of $30 upfront just to play the game. This new monetization scheme by Bluehole is not the appropriate solution in PUBG's fast declining number of players.

Fortnite Battle Pass

Battle Royale is no doubt one of the year's biggest trend in multiplayer with some of the gaming industry's biggest titles like Call of Duty Black Ops 4 and Battlefield V getting into the hype. The genre is not new, however, the recent boom of the genre can be credited to PUBG with its phenomenal rise to fame on the PC. Though this may be the case, it is undeniable that for the sake of competition some developers will jump into the hype wagon.

Instead of fixing or improving the game, Bluehole seems to have focused more on reckless attempts to bring down the competition which is creating a huge backlash from its community. It would be better of Bluehole shifts its focus into the game's community and play along with the growing competition by providing fixes, improvements, add-ons, updates and other game-focused features that will entice more players which in the same time will prove that PUBG is the best game in the genre.
