EVO 2018 Shows Dramatic Decrease Of Entrants In Main Title Line-Up, Except For Tekken 7

EVO head honcho Joey Cuellar recently revealed the final number of EVO 2018 entrants moments after the registration closed. Compared to last year, recent numbers show that Street Fighter V Arcade Edition has 201 fewer entrants for this year, 212 less for Smash 4, 133 less for Melee, 206 less for GGXrd, and 527 less for Injustice 2. Tekken 7, on the other hand, remains to grow and has managed to reel in 226 more participants for EVO 2018.

This downward trend, however, does not mean that the FGC is shrinking, in fact, EVO 2018 currently has 11,185 combined number of participants which is 1,115 more entrants compared to 2017's 10,070. The increase can be credited to BBCTB's 1148 entrants and Dragon Ball FighterZ's 2530 entrants. Not only that, For the first time since 2013, a new title has managed to surpass the number of entrants for Street Fighter. Stay tuned for more gaming news and updates.
