Japan X Saudi Arabia Esports Tournament Happening on January 2019

Held recently at Dentsu Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan is a signing and announcement ceremony for the Japan Saudi Arabia Esports Tournament scheduled in January 2019. Attending the ceremony are Japan Esports Coalition President Hideki Okamura and Saudi Arabia e-Sports Federation President Prince Faisal bin, Bandar R. Sauld who served as representatives and signatories for each country.

Agreed upon is a cash prize of 30 million yen (approx. $270,000 USD) which will be divided between multiple game tournaments. Titles revealed so far include Winning Eleven 2019, Street Fighter V Arcade Edition, and Tekken 7 with plans to add other titles in the coming months.

The collaboration according to Prince Faisal "is a catalyst for the two countries to make great relationships" to which Mr. Okamura added that this is "a great opportunity to provide a new playing field for Esports competitors." The event is scheduled to take place on January 18-19, 2019 in Saudi Arabia and on January 26-27, 2019 in Japan. Stay tuned for more gaming news and updates.
