DMC5 Devil Breaker And Other Combat Mechanics Explained

One of Capcom's showcase during Gamescom 2018 is the first playable demo for the upcoming Devil May Cry 5 which looked pretty promising running smoothly on the Xbox One X. In relation to that, an in-depth combat analysis and breakdown based on the game's official Gamescom 2018 demo manual was created by a member of ResetEra to provide an overview of the demo especially on some of the new features and gameplay mechanics of the upcoming installment.

One of the new features highlighted in the breakdown is the Devil Breaker System which is one of the new mechanics introduced in the game. Devil Breakers are consumable cartridges which enable multiple functions on Nero's arm. These consumable items are obtained by calling the Nico Van, initial loadout at the beginning of a mission, or through acquisition within in the environment.

Unlike regular equipment, Devil Breakers are in a fixed rotation, which means that choosing which cartridge to consume is not possible unless the currently active cartridge breaks or consumed. There are currently two types of Devil Breakers revealed so far, one of which is Overture which is considered as the default/beginner and the mobility and projectile-based Gerbera.

Other changes discussed in the post includes the revamped camera system's dynamic features, improvements in the jump/dodge system, the new air taunt feature, revisions in the EX System, Style Rank System, and much more.
