Amidst the overwhelming success
of Rockstar's latest entry to their highly acclaimed Red Dead series, a couple of issues seems to exist within the game itself as discovered through various tests done by experts. One of which is the broken HDR output discovered by HDTVTest in the Xbox One X version of the game. According to the analysis, the image quality of Red Dead Redemption 2
while running on the most powerful console on the planet is nothing but an upscaled SDR version of the game. Thus the HDR feature of the title is actually fake which means that playing the game on Xbox One X will not make that much difference since the player cannot take advantage of the 4K HDR feature of the game.
The test done by HDTVTest is triggered by the of the previous tests done by Eurogamer contributor Adam Fairclough
who has established a method in testing HDR features for a lot of the recently launched titles. With both tests showing the same results, disabling the game's HDR feature when playing the game will eventually provide the best visual experience. Note that it was also mentioned that the same issue exists in the PlayStation 4 PRO version of the game as well.
