It seems that there is a major shift happening at Sony due to the recent announcements made this year. Announced earlier this year was the cancelation of the PlayStation Experience which was supposed to take place in December. This was followed by another announcement last week that the company will be skipping E3 2019, the reason being is that the company is looking for "inventive opportunities to engage the community." From the looks of it, Sony is planning something big that will probably blow everyone away.
"PlayStation fans mean the world to us and we always want to innovate, think differently and experiment with new ways to delight gamers. As a result, we have decided not to participate in E3 in 2019. We are exploring new and familiar ways to engage our community in 2019 and can’t wait to share our plans with you.” - Sony's statement to Game Informer
Meanwhile, a disc-less Xbox One is rumored for a 2019 launch which according to Brad Sams who first got hold of the information, is designed to lower the cost of the console. Do take note that the disc-less console is not related to the Scarlett project. I was also stated that Microsoft will start a disc-to-digital program that will enable players to trade in their disc in exchange for a digital download code. In other words, Microsoft will pursue their previous plan for the Xbox One where players cannot resell their games. Nevertheless, these are all but speculations and rumors until Microsoft officially makes the announcement. Check out the video below for more information and stay tuned for more gaming news and updates.
