Sony Left E3 Due to Outdated Structure
SIE Worldwide Studios head Shawn Layden in a recent interview with CNet laid down the reason why PlayStation won't be in this year's E3. Part of which is that event has become a "trade show, without a lot of trade activity." He also mentioned that June is a bit "too late" to have a discussion with retailers. Another reason mentioned during the discussion is that Sony's plans in creating fewer and bigger games left them with less information to share with the public.

"The world has changed, but E3 hasn't necessarily changed with it." - Shawn Layden speaking to CNet

In relation to that, Sony's head honcho also shared that the company maintains its focus on making it easy for their developers to focus on the company's "first, best, or must" vision for the future. Wherein "first" pertains to creating a new game activity or genre, become the "best" in class, and "must" which refers to supporting the platform. That alone assures the PlayStation community to expect more great exclusives in the future. Stay tuned for more gaming news and updates.
