Sony Bend's long-awaited entry to the zombie genre Days Gone
has finally made it out in the open after 7 years of development. Just like other PlayStation exclusives, the game is pretty well-made. Some of its notable features include the highly detailed open world environment, dynamic weather system, impressive voice acting, and other impressive elements that can only be seen in a console exclusive title. With that said, let's take a quick look at what some of the video game industry's critics have to say about the game.
"Like the winding roads of Farewell Wilderness that contain both serenity and danger, Days Gone is a journey with a winding range of emotions. Though the game borrows heavily from other open-world games, Bend Studios has done a solid job melding it together into a package that’s more than the sum of its parts." - Hardcore Gamer 4/5
Days Gone currently has an average Metascore of 74 made up of 51 positive, 33 mixed, and 2 negative response from 86 critics. Most of the game's criticisms come from the minor performance issues and glitches in the game. Issues like audio drop out, broken lipsync, framerate drops among others. These issues, however, can still be fixed through patches.
"The new Sony exclusive is far from perfect, but it's still remarkable." Eurogamer Italy 8/10
Days Gone is Sony Bend's first major project for the PlayStation 4 console which is a huge leap from their previous endeavor. This is also the first PlayStation 4 exclusive that is powered by Unreal Engine 4. Despite having some glitches and a score way lower than the previously launched exclusives, the still represents the impressive quality and presentation commonly seen in other PlayStation 4 exclusives.
